Easy tips to increase your opt in email list

Most people want to build a loyal website following and one of the best ways to do that is to allow your visitors the ability to opt-in to your email list. I have stumbled upon some good ways to increase your conversion to signup rates over the years. Here are my top 8 favorite ways that you can really boost your list numbers.

  1. The most obvious tip would be to not hide your email signup form. Keep it above the fold and make it clear and easy for people to signup for your email messages.
  2. Less required fields = more signups. I have found that the less fields you ask for is directly related to the number of people that will actually signup. Instead of having a large signup form asking for Name, Email Address, Address and Other fields, try just asking for First Name and Email Address. After you have that you have these 2 fields you can trigger an auto-responder email at any time asking for more information.
  3. Offer incentives only available to people on your email list. This can be as simple as “Sign up and get valuable coupons or promotions via email before everyone else”. Sometimes this is all the incentive that a user needs to see in order to click the submit button and opt-in.
  4. Contests. Offer a contest for people that are on your list. Again this can be a simple giveaway “Everyone on our email list is eligible to win our monthly prizes” With a link to the details about the contest.
  5. Signup during the checkout process. Capturing opt-ins on the checkout page is one of the most important ways to get valuable subscribers onto your list. You must offer the customers the option of signing up during the checkout process. These are your most valuable customers and you need to keep in touch with them. If you are using BlueHornet, like I do, then you would use the BlueHornet API in order to pass the variables to the email database if the visitor checks the box to opt-in.
  6. Add a signup box while leaving a product review or a blog comment. This is a great way to get new subscribers. Just look at how many comments or product reviews you have on your site. If you had a simple checkbox in this form you could allow your visitors to subscribe while leaving a product review, blog comment or even filling out your contact form. Very valuable subscriber data that will add up fast!
  7. Ask for referrals in your email. Every once in a while promote the forward to a friend feature, in your email marketing software, and actually ask them to forward the email to friends. It never hurts to ask for help from your subscribers and most will like to help you. Make sure you have a link to subscribe to the email list in all the emails that you send out so people that get the message forwarded can easily find the opt-in information.
  8. Social Media. Setup a tab or a link on your Facebook page asking for fans to subscribe to your email newsletter. They like you enough to be a fan, so they are likely to signup for your email list if presented with the opportunity.

Setup a specific Twitter landing page that thanks the users for clicking on the profile link and asks them to signup for the email list. Most Twitter users will visit your site using the Twitter profile link, so setup a special page for these Twitter users and greet them accordingly.

Finding creative ways to build your email mailing list can be fun and rewarding. Just put yourself in your customer’s shoes and make sure you are offering an easy way for all visitors to signup for your list. Capturing and using this valuable data should be a big part of your online marketing strategy.

One way to track the success of all these different capture points is to setup different groups in your email software, so you can track to see how many users are signing up from all the different places throughout your site.

To create you email list most professionals use the services of Aweber. You can find there web site at  https://www.aweber.com

stuck4 300x187 Top Tips To Become Successful With Forum Marketing

The first thing is to BE POSITIVE.

People naturally gravitate to positive people. Post positive sounding posts. Don’t get personal about other users (even if you don’t agree with them) or products/services you don’t personally like. Everyone is trying to grow or create their business — it pays to be nice.

Visit your forum every day and contribute. Get a reputation for being helpful. Try and give back when you can — rather than asking for help/advice all the time.

Don’t be scared. Ask questions. Get involved. Don’t be shy. Even if you are brand new — say that. Introduce yourself. Very quickly you WILL build up a supportive network on online friends.

Never post an ad on a forum!

Create a ‘stand out’ signature file. A signature file is what you use to ‘sign off’ your posts with. You can often make them as eye catching as possible. Be always on the lookout for people who you can connect with. Maybe they have a service that would help you market your site or maybe they are just fun people to get to know. Maybe they would benefit from your encouragement.

Forums are a lot of fun. You may get many leads from people who respond to your question publicly – or they may contact you privately through the forum, known as a PM – personal Message.

Sign up for as many forums as you can handle but try and spend no more than half an hour every day at your forum. Forums can get very addictive, and eat up a lot of your time. I log on once a day, maybe answer a few posts, maybe post a few, then log out. Except for course for my own forum – where I am for on average about 4 hours a day – answering questions and posts.

If you find someone who you think (from reading their posts) would be a good person to approach to suggest helping each other to grow your respective business – send them a Personal Message. Just say hi. Mention that you enjoy reading their posts and would like to be friends.

Remember the web is called the web for a reason – it’s all about connecting people. A forum is a great opportunity to find like minded individuals online.

photo 16396 20100510 300x187 Using Affiliate Programs to Increase Your Income

Becoming an affiliate of an affiliate program is one of the easiest ways of getting started as an online business entrepreneur. Getting started does not mean in anyway that you are going to make money and be a successful affiliate marketer. To be successful it is extremely important that you check on several vital aspects of an affiliate program as indicated below before you join it so that you do not regret later.

1. Check whether the affiliate program is free to join. If there is a fee to be paid it will be wise to keep away from it. All good affiliate programs are free to join.

2. If you are already an affiliate marketer, choose one that is related to the theme of your website and to the targeted visitors to your website. This will help you grow your business much faster.

3. Visit review sites and forums and check with other affiliates whether they are satisfied with the affiliate program you have identified.

4. The commission offered for the sale of a product is very important. Unless the commission is between 25% and 60% it might not be worth the while spending much time and effort promoting the product.

5. Do the program providers have an efficient tracking system to track your sales? Good affiliate programs provide their affiliates the opportunity to check the sales statistics by visiting their sites or they send e-mails every time a sale is made. Ensure that they provide these facilities.

6. How often are commission checks paid and the minimum amount of money that has to be accumulated for payment? If the commission is not high and the minimum amount required for payment is high, then you will not receive any pay checks for months.

7. Is there a customer support service and will you be able to talk to them over the phone for assistance if necessary.

8. Good affiliate program providers regularly send newsletters and tutorials to their affiliates to help them succeed.

9. A very important thing that you have to check is whether you will be provided with promotional material such as banners, text links and sales letters. Without these it will be difficult to promote your product, especially if you are new to affiliate marketing.

10. In spite of all these checks, ensure that you are not blown away by the hype and get caught to a scam.

Once you have made a decision to become an affiliate of an affiliate program, act wisely, spend a few days checking on the above and make your move. Choose the program that you think will give you the best results. Work with dedication and promote your affiliate business in every possible way you can. You cannot fail.

Pump up the volume of your email subject lines

asaa 300x202 Pump up the volume of your email subject lines

The low cost and relative ease of using email has made it an ever more important marketing tool. This has caused the in boxes of your customers and prospects to become ever more crowded with messages competing for their attention. For this reason it is increasing important for you to take more care when developing the Subject Lines of your emails. Ten tactics can help you craft an attention grabbing subject line, leading to greater success.

1) Learn from newspaper headlines. Like email messages, newspaper headlines have to be short, succinct, and catchy. As for headlines, subject lines should clearly state what your reader can expect from your email, what they will gain from reading them and what you want them to do as a result.

2) Concentrate on the objective. Of course you want recipients to open your message, but that’s not your ultimate objective. Do you want them to place an order? Request a catalogue? Visit their local outlet?  You must determine what that one action is, and make sure all components of your email, especially the subject line are focussed on this objective.

3) Leverage the “from” line. Do not assume your recipient know who you are. Include your company name in the “from” line and if possible perhaps the purpose of the business. A message from “Smith & Jones Gift Hampers” will usually have a higher open rate than one from “Smith & Jones Ltd”. This also means that you’re using the company name in the “from” line so you don’t have to repeat it in the subject line, offering you more characters to work with.

4) Mention key information first. Consider what you want recipients to do when they see your email and then put what you think will get them to do it front and centre in your subject line. Bear in mind that most email preview panes allow just fifty characters, including spaces, to be immediately visible. Make sure you keep within these boundaries.

5) Use Personalisation. You can personalise greetings as well as the actual offer or within text of the message based on the recipients’ past purchases or interests. Properly implemented, personalisation boosts open rates. Erroneous personalisation, or misspelling the recipient’s name, for instance, will damage not only response but also their impression of your brand.

6) Add a sense of urgency. Successful marketers use this tactic.  “Order by 18 July”, “Be one of the first 25 respondents…”, “Only 24 hours left…” are examples of messages with a sense of urgency. It is not necessary that the offer will actually close.

7) Lead, but don’t mislead. You already know this, of course, but it bears repeating. Never promise something you can’t deliver, and never make an offer in the subject that is has so many caveats in the message that the offer is all but impossible.

icon cool Pump up the volume of your email subject lines Don’t shy away from “free”. Conventional wisdom held that including the word “free” in a subject line was a sure-fire way to have your email blocked by spam filters. However, this is not usually the case, and “people still respond to the word ‘free’, so the increase in orders or other actions will almost always outweigh the messages lost to filtering. To help get through spam filters don’t make “free” the first word of the subject line, don’t use exclamation marks and don’t write in full caps.

9) Plan for deliverability. Emails that don’t get delivered cannot be opened. Look for trends in your rejected returns and use credible software and service providers.

10) Test. For all your activity test different scripts, measure your success and failure and learn from analysis of the results.

How To Create An eBook That Sells!

asaaaew How To Create An eBook That Sells!

If you’re creating an eBook on a topic that you are familiar with, don’t presume it will sell just because you have knowledge of this subject. Your first step before writing the book, is to identify your market and know where the market is. If you don’t research your subject, you’re wasting your time writing your book.

Commonsense says before you even begin writing your eBook or you choose an affiliate product you need to find an interested market. Target your market to ready and willing buyers. In online marketing, you can do this within minutes by going to any of the search engines and doing a search. Also check Amazon and eBay to see if there are any comparable products. It’s also good to start visiting forums in your niche.

Get involved by answering questions. What questions they are asking? What information are they having a difficult time finding? What new idea did you pick up on using a product or theory already on the market? The answer to any of these questions can be the perfect start for recognizing and starting an eBook.

Next, you will need to check out ClickBank. Look in the section that best relates to your niche. What eBooks are offered that relate to your topic? Did you find any eBooks that pertain to any of the questions you found from your research in the forums?

If there’s an eBook that already exists, then consider using it as an affiliate product. You can use this product at the beginning of your campaign, and then develop your own eBook that elaborates on this information or takes the information in several new directions.

Scan websites that are using these products. You might find different products on their sites and see how they have presented them. Copy these URLs for future reference to use in marketing your eBook directly to there sites.

If you want to sell information products, locate potential buyers and sample their interests before writing or marketing an eBook. That’s the way smart marketers use the power of the Internet to literally make passive income while they sleep.

You too can live the life you’ve dreamed of, create your own business. Set up your business model to profit from affiliate marketing.

4 Ways to Promote a Blog For Increased Traffic

photo 8730 200910141 300x225 4 Ways to Promote a Blog For Increased Traffic

So you have a blog, with a great Page Rank, lots of content, but no traffic. What  exactly can you do!

Having plenty of your own unique writing on a blog and building its Google Page Rank are good starting points, but neither actually guarantees that you will get a lot of traffic. You might have an impressive Page Rank that advertisers will pay a fortune to get a share of, but if used improperly, you might still not be getting traffic.

So, if you are struggling, take a look at these points to make sure that you are getting more traffic.

Research popular keywords
You can write all day long and build dozens of links to those posts for as long as you like, but if you are writing posts that do not cover well researched terms then you are limiting your search engine visitors to long search terms that just happen to crop up in your writing.

Instead, use tools such as Google’s Keyword Selector Tool to uncover keyword phrases that are relevant to your blog. Then build these keywords into the titles of your future posts and work the link building of your blog around these same terms. It is a two pronged approach – write content around the keyword and build links around them as well.

Guest blog!
By writing some high quality content, again keyword researched, and then offering it up to other bloggers as guest posts on their high traffic blogs, you might be able to get a share of their traffic. If your writing is good then a portion of the readers on that blog might click on the links in your biography and visit your own blog. The same does happen with the better article directories as well/

Get commenting
Placing comments on other peoples’ blogs is a good way of increasing blog traffic, when it is done correctly. Look around for blogs that are related to your blog theme, that have high traffic levels and are written to often. Then read their latest posts and if you have something to add to the post leave a comment.

But, make sure that the comment adds to the writing. Comments such as ‘Nice post, excellent writing.’ might be flattering, but do not add to the post and are likely to be deleted. But comments giving a different view or telling a story that adds to the post are likely to be approved. Once the comment is approved other bloggers might notice your comment and a lot of them, if they find your comment interesting, might call into your own blog.

Go to forums
Posting comments on forums can also be a good way to traffic. Either general forums where you are just chatting, or better still in support forums. Especially in support forums, you do not even need to keep name dropping your blog. Just make sure that you are showing your picture against each post and that your profile links to your website and this way I find that a lot of new visitors find their way to my blogs.

That is a few simple tips to promote a blog for increased traffic, I hope you find them useful!

aawerety1 How to Write and Make Money From an eBook Without Actually Selling It An eBook is a great way of making money on the internet and you don’t need to have a website to do it. Nor do  you need to actually sell the eBook to make money from it.  So how do you do it…well in a nutshell, it involves you writing a short ebook preferably about a topic you know about and distributing it for free around the internet.

It doesn’t have to be long – 10-15 pages is enough. In order to make money from it, you add multiple affiliate links to different products within the ebook. Here’s what you need to do.

Step 1: How to Choose a topic that you have an interest in

The best eBooks are written by those who know what they are talking about. It will also make it easier to write if you have an interest in the topic. Having said that however, there is no rule that says that you need to know the subject to write about it but it will take longer because you will need to do the research for it first.

Step 2: How to Find products to promote in your ebook

There is no point spending hours writing an eBook only to find that there are no products to add to it. So before you start writing, you need to find products that you can ‘sell’ in your eBook that relate to your topic. You can choose products from Clickbank, CJ.com, Linkshare.com, ShareaSale.com, Amazon.com or any of the other affiliate networks. These companies are all free to join and offer thousands of different products and services that you can promote. Clickbank is the clear market leader and a good one to start with as they don’t care whether you have a website or not.

Once you know that there are plenty of products you can start writing.

Step 3: How to Start Writing

This is not as scary as it sounds. If you have a flair for writing then you will probably have no problem getting started but if the last thing you wrote was a report in high school then you might find it hard to get going.

The easiest way to write an ebook is to break it up into sections first. For instance, say we decide to write an eBook on dog training. (yes I know everyone uses this example!!!) We might break it up into the following sections:

1. Introduction
2. How to train your dog to sit
3. How to train your dog to come when called
4. How to train your dog to shake hands
5. etc, etc

Once you have the main sections you can then provide the content. Always leave the introduction till last as it will be a lot easier to write.

Here is a really good tip. Start out with dot points. Don’t worry about making it read right at this point. Just jot down as many things as you can think of for each of the sections of your ebook.

Once you have the dot points then just expand on each dot point with sub-dot points. Before you know it you will have lots of content.

Now you just need to structure those dot points into coherent sentences.

If you really don’t want to write it yourself then pay a professional. Elance is a great place for this – it is full of writers willing to work on your projects and you would be surprised at how little it costs.

Step 4: How to Add Affiliate Links

Once you have completed your ebook you will need to add affiliate links. You can add them within the content itself where appropriate or add them at the end as a list of recommended products – or both if you like.

Step 5: How to Convert to PDF

Before you distribute your eBook you will need to convert it to PDF. There are a number of free versions available on the internet that are simple and easy to use. Ensure that once the document has been converted that you check to ensure that it has formatted the content correctly and that any links within the document work correctly. Some converters work better than others but we recommend one of the following:

  • http://www.doc2pdf.net/

Step 6: How to  Proofread Your eBook

There is nothing worse than reading a document with multiple spelling errors or bad grammar. Make sure you run a spell checker over it and read it through thoroughly yourself. Better yet, get someone else to do it for you. The more people that look at it the better so get your family or friends to help out.

Step 7: How to Distribute Your eBook

The next step is to distribute your ebook. Here are some ideas:

- email websites that relate to your ebook topic and tell them they can send out your ebook to their email list if they have one or they can use it as a free giveaway to encourage people to sign up to their newsletter.
– submit your ebook to ebook directories – there are plenty of them…just do a search in Google
– create a Squidoo lens, Hubpage (hubpage.com) and attach your ebook to the page so people can download it.
– submit to forums

And if you found that your ebook turns out better than you expected and you might just be able to sell it rather than distribute it free them sign up with Clickbank.

5 Top Tips for Successful Article Writing

You may have heard by now that writing articles and submitting them to different locations is a great way to increase the traffic to your web sites and in the end increase your income. But if the articles you write aren’t getting people’s attention and they are not clicking on your links in the resource box, then you need to do something about it! Here are the top 5 tips that will help you write the most successful articles.

Tip Number 1
The most important thing you need to do when writing articles is to capture your reader’s attention. How else are they going to read to the bottom of your article to click on your link? But how can you get people’s attention? It has been proven that people related better to stories or people they know. Adding a quote from a well known person near the beginning of your article to make people associate your knowledge with the well known person’s knowledge. Or alternatively you could retell a tale that you once heard, it can be something that happened to you or a fable that you can make connections to your topic with.

Tip Number 2
Of course what is a great article without a catchy title? The reason I still put that you need an article that will capture and keep people’s attention is that this will decide how many people enjoy your article. You want to keep a high level of quality for all your articles, since that will bring in the most people to visit your web sites. But of course you will need a title to get people to take a look at your article. You will want to come up with a title that describes what your article topic is, but with something of a mystery to get people to click. People respond well to lists and “top 10′s” but they also like questions or implications of success.

Tip Number 3
Pick a very hot topic. If you’re writing about nursing or babies, try to write an article about the latest fad in diapers or something that is related to the current world. Write articles that are seasonal or festive. Webmasters and ezine owners are always looking for an article that relates well to the current time of the year. When it’s Christmas time, relate your topic to Christmas and do the same for other holidays and seasons. If you’re not sure what else you could use, read the news, some weblogs or talk to your friends to find out the most current events.

Tip Number 4
Check your grammar and spelling. This might seem obvious, but articles that have bad grammar or spelling are not going to help you much. These articles might even be rejected by certain article submission sites! So take the extra few seconds it takes to press the “Spellcheck button”. You’ll see it makes a big difference.

853250 b 5 Top Tips for Successful Article Writing

Tip Number 5
Write from the heart or from personal experience. This is one tip that helps you write articles more easily which is then reflected in your articles. If you’re interested in the topic you’re writing about, you’re bound to write better articles. Maybe you found out that a certain keyword is very saught after, but you’re just not feeling motivated to write about it. Take a break and write about something that really excites you, and think of the other topic at the same time.

If you keep practicing this technique, soon you’ll think positive things about more topics and will be able to write about a wide range of topics without losing out on the personal touch you can add to each of your articles.

I hope these 5 Top Tips for Successful Article Writing
